Roy Walker is a Northern Irish comedian and television personality. He is best known for hosting ‘Catchphrase’ between 1986 and 1999.

 

His comedy career started in the 1960s, compering at Talk of the Town comedy club in Belfast. In 1977, he won on the talent show ‘New Faces’ for ITV as well as regularly appearing on the 1970s hit comedy showcase ‘The Comedians’ (ITV).

 

Credits include; ‘Roy Walker: Beyond A Joke’ (BBC One, 2019), the host of ‘TV’s Greatest Game Shows’ (Challenge TV, 2019), ‘Sketchy with Diarmuid Corr’ (BBC Northern Ireland, 2011), ‘Being Sold’, (The Philm Company, 2011), ‘The Jealous God (Diva Theatre Productions, 2005), ‘Phoenix Nights’ (Channel 4, 2001), ‘Summertime Special’ (BBC, 1988), ‘Cinderella: The Show Must Go On’ (Central, 1986), ‘The Laughter Show’ (BBC, 1986), ‘There Goes 1980’ (Granada Television, 1980).
